Family Aquatic Center Operation & Mission StatementThe primary goal of the Family Aquatic Center is to maintain a healthy and safe place for community members to enjoy water recreation. Because of the inherent dangers, a large staff and efficiently operated facility is required. Water quality and sanitation practices must be maintained at very high levels. A seasonal operation, the aquatic center is managed and operated by part-time personnel, under the direction of the Water and Wastewater Department. The City's original pool, which opened in 1957, gave way to a new one in 2003. The new facility, modeled after today's concept of a family aquatic center, includes two pools: a competitive pool and dive well with one and three meter diving boards, and a zero-entry leisure pool which includes an interactive play structure and large slide. The new aquatic center has been well received by the community and should serve the interests of St. Marys citizens for many years.
